On November 16 local time, President Xi Jinping met with President Dilma Vana Rousseff of Brazil in Brisbane.

Xi Jinping stressed that I paid a successful state visit to Brazil this July, reaching broad consensus with you on deepening cooperation in various fields. Both sides better understand and support each other in taking a development path suitable to respective national conditions. Both sides more firmly regard each other as development opportunity and cooperative partner and bilateral relations enjoy broad prospects. We should redouble our efforts, push forward cooperation for more achievements, enhance trade facilitation and liberalization and promote the construction of freight railways, high-speed rails and the “two-ocean railway” of the Brazilian side for early and tangible progress. The Chinese side is willing to intensify coordination and cooperation with the Brazilian side in multilateral mechanisms, promote solidarity and cooperation among BRICS countries and jointly cope with challenges such as climate change. I hope that Brazil will actively support and participate in the first Ministerial Meeting of the Forum between China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to be held in Beijing next year. I am willing to maintain communication and exchanges with you to lead the development of bilateral relations.
