Ambassador Xu Hong met with Executive Director of Barbados Family Planning Association

On March 28, H. E. Mr. Xu Hong, Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, met with Mr. George Griffith, executive director of the Barbados Family Planning Association (BFPA).

Mr. George Griffith introduced the work and operations of the association, and expressed that as a non-governmental organization established in 1954, the BFPA gained a broad influence in Barbados and the Caribbean by lowering birth rate, providing sexual and reproductive health services to improve the quality of life of Barbadians. At present, the demographic rates of Barbados have reached the level of most developed countries.

Ambassador Xu said that "family planning" as a basic policy of China had been put in place over 30 years, which reduced the population pressure, improved the population quality and made a great contribution to relieving the contradictions between resources and population at large. China has accumulated rich experience in this regard and the two sides can enhance exchanges and communications to raise the quality of life in both countries.

Embassy's counselor Mrs. Wang Lei and Youth Development Officer of BFPA attended the meeting.
