The Chinese Embassy and the Canadian side Co-host Concert in Celebration of the China-Canada Year of Tourism

On the evening of November 27th, the Chinese Embassy in Canada and Friends of the National Arts Centre Orchestra (FNACO) co-hosted a chamber concert in the embassy hall to celebrate the China-Canada Year of Tourism 2018 and the 5th anniversary of NACO's China Tour. Nearly 200 people attended the concert, including Ambassador Lu Shaye and his wife Wang Liwen, FNACO President Albert V. Benoit; Geng Tan, Member of Canadian Parliament; Marc Stevens, NAC Orchestra Managing Director and diplomatic envoys to Canada from countries such as France, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines and Pakistan. Some mainstream media in Canada like Ottawa Life Magazine and the Hill Times covered the event.

In his speech, Ambassador Lu Shaye spoke highly of the important contributions of the China-Canada Year of Tourism in promoting tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. He appreciated the efforts made by FNACO and Canada's NAC Orchestra to promote music education in Canada and advance cultural exchanges between China and Canada. Ambassador Lu also gave a brief introduction to historic achievements made by China over the past 40 years in reform and opening-up and the latest development of China-Canada relations. He hoped that China and Canada would continue to achieve greater progress in bilateral relations.

At the concert, the Canadian pianist Ginsburg, the tenor Michaud, Chinese-Canadian singer Liu Minghui, and young performers from the School of Music at Ottawa University played several world-known music pieces composed by famous musicians like Puccini, Bach, Brahms and Liszt, receiving warm applause from the audience.
