President Xi Jinping Accepts Credentials from Nine New Ambassadors to China

On October 15, 2014, President Xi Jinping accepted credentials presented by nine new ambassadors to China at the Great Hall of the People. The ambassadors were Jorge Heine from Chile, Inoussa Moustaphas from Niger, Dudley McKinley Thomas from Liberia, Lbrahima Sory Sow from Guinea, Maurice Gourdault-Montagne from France, Adama Dosso from Cote d'Ivoire, Ali Asghar Khaji from Iran, Juan Carlos Capunay from Peru, and Hans Dietmar Schweisgut from the European Union.

Xi Jinping welcomed the foreign ambassadors to assume office in China, and asked them to convey sincere greetings and good wishes to the leaders and people of their own countries and institutions. Xi Jinping stressed that China has been unswervingly committed to safeguarding world peace and promoting common development. We are willing to strengthen exchanges, share opportunities, jointly meet challenges, and cooperate for win-win results with countries around the world. The Chinese government will provide convenience and support for the work of the ambassadors. It is hoped that the ambassadors make positive contributions to enhancing the friendship between China and the people of relevant countries and regions as well as to promoting the development of the friendly and cooperative relationship.

Xi Jingping pointed out that the Ebola epidemic is now spreading rampantly throughout West Africa, severely threatening the lives, health and safety of the local people, and has become a common challenge for the international community in the field of non-traditional security. China has provided support and assistance for relevant countries. We are willing to continue to work with the international community to jointly fight against the epidemic of Ebola.

The foreign ambassadors conveyed warm greetings from the leaders of their own countries and institutions to Xi Jinping, and wished China prosperous and the Chinese people happy. The ambassadors said that China's development is an important opportunity for the world and all the countries attach great importance to relations with China. They feel deeply honored to take the diplomatic mission in China in this important historical period, and feel the heaviness of their responsibility. They will be actively committed to strengthening practical cooperation as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges with China, and jointly deal with various global challenges. The ambassadors highly appreciated China's significant contributions to the international community in combating the epidemic of Ebola, and expressed their willingness to strengthen communication and cooperation with China.
