Li Keqiang Speaks with Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad on the Phone

On the afternoon of December 28, 2020, Premier Li Keqiang had a phone conversation with Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad at the latter's request.

Li Keqiang said when the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading, in face of this common challenge of mankind, no one can stand idly by and nothing is more important than securing people's health and safety. Solidarity and coordination among countries are the fundamentals to address this challenge, and the vaccine is the golden key to defeat the pandemic. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with other countries in vaccine development, and will make joint efforts with them to promote the accessibility and affordability of the vaccine around the world, making contributions to protecting people's lives and health.

Li Keqiang emphasized China attaches great importance to the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership with Algeria, and is willing to work with Algeria to enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation and advance the construction of planned major projects in order to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results for the two peoples.

Abdelaziz Djerad said China is one of Algeria's greatest friends, and the Algerian side is highly satisfied with the thriving relationship between the two nations. The Algerian side is ready to work out the second five-year plan for comprehensive cooperation with China, promote bilateral collaboration in large projects and push ahead further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership. He expressed gratitude for China's support and assistance in Algeria's fight against the pandemic, adding his country is willing to strengthen cooperation with China on COVID-19 vaccines.
