Chinese Embassy Spokesperson's Remarks on Magnus Fiskesjö's Absurd Claims

We’ve noticed Magnus Fiskesjö’s recent article on Norrländska Socialdemokraten (NSD), in which he once again maliciously made up lies to smear China, willfully threatened relevant local entities that engage in normal exchanges and cooperation with China, and attempted to instigate discord and sabotage China-Sweden friendly relations. What he wrote has again fully exposed his ideological biases against China and anti-China political motives.

We hereby solemnly point out again that China’s internal affairs and judicial sovereignty allow no interference. Competent Chinese authorities handle the Gui Minhai case according to law and justly, and Gui Minhai’s legitimate rights and interests are guaranteed according to law. China’s Xinjiang has adopted counter-terrorism and de-radicalization measures including setting up vocational training centers in accordance with the law, which has effectively protected the basic human rights of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang and has been applauded by many countries in the world. Exchanges and cooperation between local regions of China and Sweden comply with laws and regulations, are common international practice, and serve the interests of both sides. Such exchanges and cooperation deserve no slander, disturbance or unfair treatment by ill-willed anti-China elements.

We urge Magnus Fiskesjö to immediately stop what he’s doing. We hope that Swedish friends from various sectors will not buy into lies and proceed from the fundamental interests of the people of China and Sweden, to jointly maintain the larger friendly cooperation between our two sides.
