Ambassador Gui Congyou Talks with State Secretary of Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden on Working Together Against Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia

On 7 February, Ambassador Gui Congyou met with State Secretary Robert Rydberg at Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden.

Robert Rydberg said, I would like to extend sincere sympathies to the Chinese people who are suffering from the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP), and express my thanks and admirations to the Chinese side on its effective measures against NCP since the outbreak. Such measures are in the interest of China and the whole international community. I am glad to see that Swedish public, Swedish citizens in China and business community also actively participate in the fight. Sweden did not restrict travels from and to China like some other countries have done, which shows our strong confidence in China’s ability to control the situation.

Ambassador Gui thanked Rydberg for the sympathies to the Chinese people and commended the Swedish side’s decision in keeping with WHO recommendations not to restrict travels between China and Sweden. Ambassador Gui said, we are in close communication and collaboration with relevant Swedish authorities. Our two economies are closely linked with each other, and China and Sweden supporting each other is in the fundamental interest of our two countries and peoples.
