Li Keqiang Meets with Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah of Afghanistan

In the afternoon of December 15 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah of Afghanistan in Astana.

Li Keqiang said that President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai of your country had a successful visit to China not long ago, and the two heads of the state reached broad consensus on deepening China-Afghanistan strategic cooperative partnership and bilateral practical cooperation. President Ghani and I both attended the opening ceremony of the fourth Foreign Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process on Afghanistan. China attaches great importance to the China-Afghanistan relations, supports Afghanistan to advance the "Afghan-led and Afghan-owned" reconciliation process, and is willing to continuously play a constructive role in the peaceful reconstruction, national reconciliation and improvement of people's livelihood in Afghanistan.

Li Keqiang stressed that China is willing to send a working group to Afghanistan as soon as possible and negotiate with Afghanistan on issues such as its infrastructure development planning for promoting China-Afghanistan cooperation in various fields. China is also willing to work with Afghanistan to hold a successful celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Afghanistan next year.

Abdullah said that the continuous expansion of the Afghanistan-China relations and cooperation benefits from the foresight and sagacity of the Chinese leaders as well as the continuous improvement of the regional security environment. Afghanistan appreciates and thanks for China's long-time contributions to promoting the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan, and is willing to consolidate the bilateral friendship and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields to promote regional peace, stability and tranquility.
