Wang Yi Holds Telephone Talks with Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi of Pakistan

On February 25, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held telephone talks at request with Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi of Pakistan in Beijing.

Briefing Wang Yi on the Pakistani side's stance on the recent suicide attack in the India-controlled Kashmir region as well as the Pakistani side's relevant measures, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi noted that the Pakistani side has the sincerity and determination to carry out dialogue and cooperation with the Indian side to find out the truth of the event. The Pakistani side's stance on safeguarding regional peace including counter-terrorism issues remains unchanged. The Pakistani side stands ready to enhance relevant cooperation with various countries.

Appreciating Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi's briefing, Wang Yi expressed that the Chinese side supports Pakistan and India in properly resolving issues through dialogue as soon as possible, avoiding escalating tensions and advancing anti-terrorism cooperation, in a bid to jointly safeguard peace and stability in South Asia.
