Chinese Ambassador Chen Xiaodong Met with the South African Minister of TourismMmamoloko Kubayi–Ngubane

On March 16, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Chen Xiaodong met with South African Minister of Tourism Mmamoloko Kubayi–Ngubane via video.

Ambassador Chen first thanked Minister Kubayi–Ngubane for recording a congratulatory video for the “Happy Chinese New Year” celebration event held by the Chinese Embassy in South Africa and expressed appreciation to Kubayi–Ngubane for her contributions to boosting China-South Africa cooperation in multiple fields over the years. Ambassador Chen said that China is resolute in its support of the anti-epidemic efforts by South Africa and is ready to deepen cooperation in tourism with South Africa and facilitate local tourism and economic recovery. It is hoped that South Africa can work actively to resolve issues such as the difficulty with Chinese tourists’ application of visas to South Africa and build the tourism cooperation into a new highlight in bilateral cooperation.

Minister Kubayi–Ngubane gave a warm welcome to Ambassador Chen to his new post and thanked China for its support to the anti-epidemic efforts by South Africa. She said that it is a privilege to be invited to address the “Happy Chinese New Year” event, which fully demonstrates the close partnership and profound friendship between China and South Africa. She recalled with pleasure her many visits to China, expressed willingness to continue to promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation in tourism and other fields and actively push forward the implementation of visa facilitation policies in South Africa at an earlier date, and looked forward to more productive non-governmental exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
