Consul General Zha Liyou Has Lunch Meeting with University Vice Chancellors

On 23 Sept., Consul General Zha Liyou had a lunch meeting with vice chancellors and scholars of renowned Indian universities at Visva Bhatati Kolkata Office, including Visva Bhatati VC Bidyut Chakrabarty, Jawaharlal Nehru University VC M. Jagadesh Kumar, Rabindra Bharati University VC Sabyasachi Basu Ray Chaudhury, Netaji Subhas Open University VC Subha Sankar Sarkar, and Principal of Shyam Lal College of University of Delhi Rabi Narayan Kar.

Mr Zha Liyou said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 72nd anniversary of India's independence. Sino-Indian relations continues to develop rapidly, and the second meeting of the High-level People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges Mechanism was successfully held not long ago, which injected new impetus into the cultural exchange. He encouraged the VCs and scholars to continue to support the development of Sino-Indian relations, and work with the Consulate to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, especially in higher education and academics.

The VCs appreciated highly the huge efforts done by the Consul General in promoting India-China sub-national ties, and promised to work with the Chinese Consulate to jointly advance friendly exchanges between the two countries.

Mr Zha also brought them books of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China and Up and Out of Poverty, and souvenirs for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Consul Zheng Huiqun, wife of the Consul General, and Consul Xie Chao were present.
