Consul General Zha Liyou Attends China-India Youth Exchange Event

On 26 Nov., Consul General Zha Liyou attended the meeting between a Chinese youth delegation and Mr. Sadhan Pande, West Bengal State Minister of Consumer Affairs, Self Help Group and Self Employment.

Mr. Zha welcomed the young delegates visiting Kolkata, and introduced to them the consulate and recent exchanges between China and East India. He said that President Xi Jinping’s second informal meeting with Prime Minister Modi in Chennai this October ended with important consensus on furthering bilateral relations, of which youth and people-to-people exchange is a key part. The consulate is willing to create platforms for youth exchanges to promote people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Mr. Pande briefed the delegation the development of West Bengal and Kolkata, and said that India and China are great countries, and strengthening their exchanges and cooperation will have huge regional and international impacts. He hoped that young people of India and China will continue to strengthen exchanges and jointly promote friendship between the two countries.

Mr. Huang He, head of the delegation, expressed appreciation of kind support by the West Bengal state government and the consulate, and said the delegation has learned a lot from this trip and would like to continue to participate in and promote such exchanges.

Deputy Consul General Yu Xiong and Consular Attache Zhou Yaoyao were present.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports, Government of India, the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League organized the nearly 200-member youth delegation to visit New Delhi, Agra, Mumbai, and Kolkata from Nov. 20 to 27, to call on Indian government agencies, universities and youth organizations, and learn about development of Indian society and interact with young people from all walks of life.
