Consul General Zha Liyou Attends Award Ceremony of Durga Puja


On December 1, Consul General Zha Liyou attended the award ceremony of Durga Puja Festival held by IMPACT. More than one hundred people attended, including Mr. Avijit Nandi Majumdar, President of IMPACT, Mr. Nirmal Maji, Minister of State Labor Department, Government of West Bengal, Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, former Indian Railway Minister, Mr. Eaknarayan Aryal, Consul General of Nepal and members of winning Durga Puja committees.

Consul General Zha Liyou appreciated IMPACT for promoting traditional culture of West Bengal, and pointed out Chinese Consulate is pleased to join celebration of Durga Puja with local communities and invite representatives of Durga Puja committees to visit China, to understand traditional Chinese culture and tap the potential of people-to-people exchanges between China and East India. Chinese Consulate looks forward to strengthening cooperation with IMPACT and other institutions in Kolkata to jointly promote China-India sub-national ties.

Mr. Majumdar and other VIPs thanked the Consul General and Chinese Consulate for in-depth participation in this year’s Durga Puja and strong support for pandal selection program and the delegation's visit to China. They expressed the willingness to work with the Consulate to jointly promote cultural exchanges between China and East India and enhance understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Mr. Zha Liyou and other guests presented trophies to winners and had friendly exchanges with each other.
