Consul General Luo Linquan Hosts Chinese New Year Reception for Journalists

On March 21, 2018, Chinese Consul General to San Francisco Luo Linquan hosted the Chinese New Year Reception for journalists. Representatives from 15 local Chinese Media, including the China Press, World Journal, Sing Tao Daily, KTSF 26 and Sinovision attended the events. Deputy Consul General Zha Liyou, Zhang Jianxin and Ren Faqiang as well as heads of all sections of the Consulate General attended the event.

Luo extended appreciation to all the media for their active introduction of the development of Sino-U.S. relations and  comprehensive reported on the major events in China and the United States,contributing to the mutual understanding of people of both countries.

Luo said China will host four diplomatic events this year, namely, the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference in Hainan, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Shandong, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit in Beijing, and the first China International Import Expo in Shanghai. China will  open more and more to the world. China would further bring down the overall tariffs, while much-needed anti-cancer drugs might phase in zero tariffs. China will further open its manufacturing sector. There will be no mandatory requirement for technology transfers and intellectual property rights will be better protected. China would combine the three laws governing foreign investors in China in order to honor its promise of offering pre-establishment national treatment.

Luo said, in 2017 the bilateral trade reached 58 billion US dollars. It is the market mechanism behind the trade volume and bilateral trade works in accordance with commercial rules. China is not willing to see such a big trade deficit. China wants the trade in overall balance. We hope the US enterprises would seize the opportunity in China's furthering opening-up in service, manufacturing and goods. We also hope the US would loosen its restriction on the high-tech and high-value-added export to China.
