Assistant Minister Wu Hongbo Meets with Participants of the Workshop for European Diplomats

On June 8, 2009, Assistant Minister Wu Hongbo met with participants of the 4th Workshop for European Diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Wu mainly introduced the measures and stances taken by the Chinese government in coping with the financial crisis, and held discussions with the participants about the development of China-Europe relations against the backdrop of the crisis.

Before the meeting, Director General Li Ruiyu of the Department of European Affairs hosted the opening ceremony for the workshop at the foreign ministry.

Previously, since 2005, under the auspices of the Department of European Affairs of the foreign ministry, the Workshop for European Diplomats has been held three times, which effectively promoted the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and European diplomatic agencies. The 4th workshop takes the theme of "Challenges and Confidence: Actively Cope with the International Financial Crisis", which is attended by diplomats from the foreign ministries of 25 European countries, the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament for 10 days of discussions and exchanges in Beijing and Jiangsu Province.
