Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry of Pakistan

On August 22, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry of Pakistan who was in China to attend the 7th round of China-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue at the Foreign Ministry.

Wang Yi said that China-Pakistan relations have maintained a strong momentum of development, with in-depth development of bilateral practical cooperation in various fields and sound coordination and cooperation between the two countries in international and regional affairs. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is of positive exemplary significance in regional development and the "Belt and Road" construction. China is ready to work together with Pakistan to push forward the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, so as to constantly enrich the connotation of China-Pakistan all-weather strategic and cooperative partnership.

Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry expressed that Pakistan-China relations have maintained healthy and stable development all along and the two countries have always shared mutual understanding and support on issues concerning each other's core interests. The Pakistan-China Economic Corridor brings hope and confidence to the Pakistani people, conforms to the common interests of both countries and is conducive to regional peace and stability. Pakistan will strive to promote the construction of the economic corridor, hoping that it can be successfully completed at an early date.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional topics of common interest.
