Chinese Ambassador to Iceland He Rulong Meets with the Mayor of Reykjavík

On March 13, Ambassador He Rulong met with Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson of Reykjavík.

Ambassador He Rulong commended that Mr. Eggertsson had served as the mayor of Reykjavík for a long period of time, thus accumulating a wealth of experience in governance. The Embassy is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Reykjavík in fields such as economy, culture and people-to-people exchanges. Recently, Iceland had been included in the list of the second batch of countries to which travel agencies can operate outbound group tours for Chinese citizens, which will take effect on March 15. The Embassy believed the arrival of Chinese tourists will be conducive to the people-to-people exchanges between our two countries.

Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson extended a warm welcome to Ambassador He and briefed the latter over the positive cooperation with the Chinese side in tourism, new energy vehicles and other fields. He expressed his willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Embassy and looked forward to the arrival of Chinese tourists.

As the world's northernmost capital, Reykjavik is the largest city of Iceland with a population of about 140,000 and serves as the cultural, economic and political hub of the country.
