On July 21, 2022, the Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) held the third meeting via video link. The meeting was co-chaired by Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao and Pakistani Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood, and attended by representatives from relevant departments of the two countries.

Both sides held that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of China and Pakistan and thanks to the joint efforts of the two sides, the development of the CPEC has been advanced in a solid manner, yielding gratifying outcomes. The CPEC, having been continuously boosting the development of China-Pakistan relations, has become a benchmark for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. We should follow through on the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, well grasp the general direction of the development of the CPEC, and properly cope with risks and challenges. We should accumulate positive energy for, inject new impetus into, and provide a strong guarantee for the development of the CPEC, so as to better benefit the two countries and two peoples.

Both sides agreed to promote cooperation schemes involving third parties in line with existing consensus, including extending to Afghanistan; continue to deepen media cooperation and do a good job in telling "CPEC stories"; and innovate and expand cooperation among think tanks to provide more public support and insights for the development of the CPEC.
