Guide the Future Development of China-Indonesia Relations with the Community with a Shared Future

- Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao Introduces the Outcomes of the Meeting between the Heads of State of China and Indonesia

On July 26, 2022, President Xi Jinping held cordial and friendly talks with visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo. After their talks, Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao gave an interview to the Chinese central media, in which he introduced the outcomes of the meeting between the two heads of state.

Wu Jianghao said, President Joko Widodo is the first foreign head of state China receives after the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and China is the first stop of his visit to East Asia. President Xi Jinping had in-depth communication with President Joko Widodo on the development of China-Indonesia relations in the new era and reached a series of important consensus. The two sides issued a Joint Press Statement on the bilateral meeting between the two heads of state, highlighting the irreplaceable strategic leading role of the head-of-state diplomacy in the development of bilateral relations.

The two heads of state agreed that as major developing countries and major emerging economies, China and Indonesia share broad common interests, huge space for cooperation and a closely connected future and destiny. During the meeting, the two heads of state clarified the overall direction of jointly building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, which is the most important political outcome of the visit. Under the guidance of jointly building a community with a shared future, the two sides will continue to deepen the new synergy of bilateral relations through the four-pillar cooperation covering politics, economy, people-to-people exchanges and maritime projects.

The two heads of state agreed that the two sides need to join hands to focus on development, mobilize a wide range of forces and jointly contribute more positive energy to the post-pandemic recovery of the world. The two sides need to deepen the Belt and Road cooperation, ensure good implementation of flagship projects, strive for smoothly completing the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, accelerate the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor and the "Two Countries, Twin Parks", constantly expand the scale of economic and trade investment and deepen the integration of industrial and supply chains. The two sides need to work together to forge and implement highlight projects of the Global Development Initiative, advance the construction of the North Kalimantan Industrial Park and other projects, and expand cooperation on digital economy and green development.

The two heads of state agreed that the two sides need to fulfill the responsibilities of major developing countries, follow true multilateralism, coordinate the two major issues of security and development and contribute Oriental wisdom and Asia's input to the development of global governance. China will continue to support Indonesia in playing a constructive role as the G20 presidency this year and leading the G20 to build consensus and jointly address global challenges.

The two heads of state agreed that the two sides need to well implement the consensus reached at the Special Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, promote the building of a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home together, advocate open regionalism and jointly uphold the ASEAN-centered regional cooperation architecture. China welcomes and will give support to Indonesia's ASEAN chairmanship next year.

During the visit, the two sides also renewed the memorandum of understanding on Jointly Promoting Cooperation within the Framework on the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative and Global Maritime Fulcrum, and signed a series of cooperation documents covering such areas as information, cyber security, vaccine, green development, ocean and import of Indonesian products to China.

At last, Wu Jianghao said that China-Indonesia cooperation enjoys strong vitality, unlimited potential and an even brighter future. He believes that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state and following the overall direction of jointly building a community with a shared future, China-Indonesia relations will continue to achieve new and greater development, continue to set an example of mutual benefit and win-win results, a model of common development and a pioneer in South-South cooperation, making greater contributions to the well-being of the two peoples, long-term peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific, solidarity and coordination among developing countries, and world peace, stability and prosperity.
