On August 4, 2022, Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth met with visiting Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu in Port Louis. Chinese Ambassador to Mauritius Zhu Liying was present as well.

Prime Minister Jugnauth asked Xu Jinghu to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. Jugnauth noted, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between Mauritius and China. Over half a century, bilateral relations have withstood the changes in the international landscape and maintained sound and steady development. The Mauritian side thanked China for its sincere help to the country's economic and social development. Jugnauth reiterated that Mauritius firmly adheres to the one-China principle and firmly supports China's efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Xu Jinghu conveyed sincere greetings from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to Prime Minister Jugnauth. Xu Jinghu said that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship 50 years ago, bilateral relations have maintained a sound momentum of development. She hopes that the two sides will take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship as an opportunity to further consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, deepen practical cooperation and constantly push bilateral relations to new levels.

Special Representative Xu Jinghu visited Mauritius from August 3 to 5, during which she held talks with Mauritian Foreign Minister Alan Ganoo, attended the launch ceremony of commemorative albums and stamps marking the 50th anniversary of China-Mauritius diplomatic relationship, and went to meet with Secretary-General of Indian Ocean Rim Association Salman Al Farisi.
