On August 5, 2022, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Xue Bing had a phone conversation with Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Horn of Africa Hanna Serwaa Tetteh.

Xue Bing briefed how China proposed the "Initiative of Peaceful Development in the Horn of Africa" and promoted its implementation as well as the Horn of Africa Peace Conference held in Ethiopia. Xue Bing said, China is ready to align the implementation of the "Initiative of Peaceful Development in the Horn of Africa" with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and push for the building of a closer community with a shared future for mankind.

Tetteh appreciated China's proposals to support regional peace and development. She believes that China's encouragement for regional countries to resolve their differences by their own matches the idea of the UN Secretary-General for the work. She is willing to maintain close communication with Special Envoy Xue Bing, and make contributions together to the peaceful development in the Horn of Africa.

They also exchanged views on the regional situation in the Horn of Africa and issues of common interest and concern.
