On March 9, Ambassador He Rulong accepted an interview from the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RÚV) and answered questions about Iceland being listed as one of the second batch of destinations to which travel agencies can operate outbound group tours, and China-Iceland tourism cooperation, etc.

Ambassador He Rulong said, life and work have come back to normal across China and many Chinese are looking to travel overseas as tourists. Therefore, China is resuming outbound tourism on a pilot basis for the safety and orderliness of cross-border travel. Iceland is on the list. At the beginning of this year, in the spirit of science and professionalism, the Icelandic foreign minister Thórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir specifically stated that no additional entry restrictions would be imposed on travelers from China, which Icelandic health experts and the Tourism Bureau also endorsed. On top of that, Iceland boasts fascinating natural scenery. That’s the reason why Iceland is well-deserved to be listed. With the arrival of the Chinese tourists, I believe China-Iceland relations will have more opportunity for further growth.

Founded in 1930, RÚV is a state-owned media company that provides nationwide radio, television and website services in Iceland. A survey shows that about 95% of Icelanders use services provided by RÚV on a weekly basis.
