On March 14, 2023, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei attended a Chinese culture exchange event at the Dasman Bilingual School that was co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait and the school. More than 600 teachers, students and their parents were engaged in the event.

The event kicked off with a video titled People’s Republic of China. This promo video on the image of China immediately drew interest from the teachers and students as they were fascinated by the meandering Great Wall, magnificent mountains, bustling cities and energetic young people shown in the video. During his speech at the event, Ambassador Zhang provided information on China’s time-honored history and splendid culture, and briefed them on the history of friendly exchanges and mutual learning between China and Arab countries. He welcomed school students to China to experience the charm of Chinese culture in person, and hoped that they would pass on and guide the long-lasting friendship between China and Kuwait so as to open up a new chapter of bilateral friendship in the new era.

Ambassador Zhang, accompanied by the school superintendent Ms. Samar Dizmen, later visited the interactive area for Chinese culture. With curiosity about and passion for China, teachers and students hurried to taste the fragrant Chinese tea water and delicious specialties from China, try on the elegant Hanfu, mould clay rabbits, learn Chinese paper-cuts and calligraphy, and appreciate beautiful Chinese scenery displayed in the photos. They also practiced saying “hello” and “thank you” in Chinese, their faces alight with joy and happiness. They said Chinese culture really appeals to them and they are looking forward to visits to China as early as possible. This event is part of the 2023 “Chinese Culture on Campus” Program launched by the Chinese Embassy. Founded in 1996, the Dasman Bilingual School is currently one of the largest private schools in Kuwait that offers bilingual education to students of different age groups, kindergarten through high school.
