On March 16, 2023, Ambassador Hou Yue paid a courtesy call to Ms. Ine Eriksen Søreide, Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Storting of Norway.

Ambassador Hou said that the current China-Norway relations maintain healthy and stable development, and the bilateral exchanges and cooperation have kept strong momentum. The Storting’s Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee plays an important role in the exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries and bilateral relations. She looks forward to maintaining close communication with Chair of the Committee to jointly promote the continuous development of China-Norway relations.

Ms. Søreide warmly welcomed Ambassador Hou to assume her post and said that in recent years, the development of Norway-China relations has kept good momentum, and the bilateral and multilateral cooperation has achieved positive results. The Storting’s Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee will continue to contribute to the exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries and the bilateral practical cooperation, and is willing to maintain frequent communication with Ambassador Hou in this regard.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis and other issues of mutual concern.
