Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao Attends the ASEAN-China Senior Officials' Consultation

On June 10, 2022, the 28th ASEAN-China Senior Officials' Consultation was held via video link, which was co-chaired by Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao and Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Myanmar U Chan Aye and attended by senior officials of other ASEAN member states responsible for ASEAN affairs and Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN. The two sides reviewed the progress in implementing the outcomes of the Special Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations and exchanged in-depth views on advancing China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership as well as international and regional issues of common concern.

Wu Jianghao stressed that last November, President Xi Jinping and ASEAN leaders jointly attended the Special Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations and announced the establishment of the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership, marking a new milestone in the history of bilateral relations. China is willing to work with ASEAN to fully implement the important consensus reached by leaders, solidly promote the building of the "five homes", i.e. a peaceful home, a safe and secure home, a prosperous home, a beautiful home and an amicable home, jointly advance Belt and Road cooperation with high quality, promote the effective synergy between the Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative and the building of the ASEAN community, further deepen and expand practical cooperation in various fields, and constantly enrich the connotation of China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership, so as to make greater contributions to promoting regional peace, stability and prosperity.

ASEAN countries highly affirmed China's tremendous achievements in pandemic response and economic and social development, thanked China for its strong support and valuable assistance in ASEAN's fight against COVID-19 and economic recovery, and appreciated China's firm support for ASEAN's centrality in the regional architecture. ASEAN countries also spoke highly of the significance of the Special Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations and China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership, and expressed willingness to work with China to build the "five homes" proposed by President Xi Jinping, constantly deepen cooperation in fields such as political security, economy and trade, public health, connectivity, sustainable development, digital economy and food security, accelerate consultations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, and jointly build a meaningful, substantive and mutually beneficial comprehensive strategic partnership between China and ASEAN.
