On March 7, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li held a political consultation at the vice-foreign ministerial level between China and Denmark with Permanent Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Denmark Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen in Beijing.

Deng Li said that Denmark was one of the first Western countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relationship with the People's Republic of China. In recent years, the two countries have overcome the pandemic difficulties and maintained stable development of bilateral relations. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China identified the central task of advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization, and China will continue to promote high-standard opening up, which will bring new opportunities for the development of China-Denmark relations. China is ready to take the 15th anniversary of the establishment of China-Denmark comprehensive strategic partnership as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges with Denmark in all fields and at all levels, accelerate negotiations on the Green China-Denmark Joint Work Programme, deepen practical cooperation in economy and trade, scientific and technological innovation, clean energy, food and agriculture, medicine and health, shipping and logistics, strengthen people-to-people exchanges in tourism, culture and other fields, and jointly tackle climate change and other global challenges. China hopes that Denmark, as a member state of the EU, will promote the EU to work with China to maintain the stability of the supply chain and industrial chain, and play a constructive role in promoting the steady and sound development of China-EU relations.

Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen expressed that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Denmark and China provides guidance for the development of bilateral relations. The new Danish administration will continue its adherence to the one-China policy, and hopes to strengthen high-level exchanges with China, accelerate the negotiation and signing of the bilateral Green Joint Work Programme, and further promote the bilateral cooperation in the field of green transition. China's development achievements are admirable and Denmark appreciates China's ambitious goals for the green transition. The economies of the EU and China are deeply integrated. Denmark supports economic globalization and is willing to make positive contributions to the development of EU-China relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis and other regional and international hotspot issues.
