On March 9, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li met with Liberian Maritime Commissioner Lenn Eugene Nagbe and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Deweh E. Gray, who were on their private trip to China.

Deng Li welcomed Nagbe and his delegation to China, and said that China attaches importance to growing its relations with Liberia, and stands ready to work with Liberia to deepen mutual understanding and support, increase political mutual trust, and promote the in-depth development of bilateral friendly cooperation.

Nagbe and Gray thanked China for providing Liberia selfless help in its economic and social development. They stressed that the Liberian government will remain committed to the one-China principle and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in maritime affairs and other fields.
