Ministry of Foreign Affairs Organizes a Visit to Chongqing for Delegation of Diplomatic Envoys to China

From March 20 to 22, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a visit to Chongqing for diplomatic envoys to China. The delegation of 26 diplomatic envoys consists of ambassadors posted in China from 13 countries, namely Albania, Luxembourg, Mauritania, Mali, Slovenia, Guinea-Bissau, Algeria, Yemen, Lesotho, Sudan, Botswana, Guinea, and Malta, as well as senior diplomats of Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Syria, Morocco, and other countries. Special Representative Wu Hongbo of the Chinese Government on European Affairs accompanied them on the whole visit.

Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Yuan Jiajun met with the delegation of diplomatic envoys, and expressed a warm welcome to the diplomatic envoys for their visit to Chongqing. Secretary Yuan Jiajun said that Chongqing is implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress on all fronts, and earnestly following through on important instructions and requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping on Chongqing, takes the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle as the key, adheres to giving priority to ecology and green development, actively develops a modern industrial system, vigorously advances scientific and technological innovation, proactively accelerates infrastructure construction and improves the level of public services, and focuses on building a model of all-round, multi-level, and wide-ranging opening-up. Chongqing is ready to deepen cooperation with all other countries in such fields as economy and trade, industry, culture, education and tourism, further enhance friendship, and jointly create a promising future.

Special Representative Wu Hongbo said that the long revolutionary history and traditions of Chongqing reflect the CPC’s original aspiration and founding mission-- dedication to pursuing happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. Chongqing pursues a development philosophy of harmony between humanity and nature, which provides a realistic path for other regions in the world to solve the issues of balance between development and ecology. The high-level opening up and science and technological innovation in Chongqing prove to the world once again that the Chinese government’s fundamental national policy of opening to the outside world and the path of pursuing high-quality development will remain unchanged. Wu Hongbo expressed his hope that the diplomatic envoys will fully enjoy the profound culture, revolutionary traditions and outcomes of the economic and social development of Chongqing during this visit, and actively promote friendly cooperation between all other countries and Chongqing in various fields. He also hopes that by learning the vivid practices of Chongqing in advancing modernization, the diplomatic envoys will understand China's resolute determination to promote reform and opening up, and its clear-cut attitude to sharing development dividends and opportunities with the world. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to leverage its own advantages to serve local development and contribute to Chongqing’s efforts to expand exchanges and cooperation with the rest of the world.

The diplomatic envoys spoke highly of the achievements made by Chongqing in its development, and said that the tangible development of China is attributable to the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The changes that happen in Chongqing in such fields as scientific and technological innovation, connectivity and ecological conservation are the epitome of China's rapid development since the 18th CPC National Congress, and have provided useful references for developing countries to realize their own development and for the whole world to achieve common progress. The diplomatic envoys all expressed their readiness to actively promote exchanges and connectivity between their own country and Chongqing, and sincerely look forward to the continuously increased opening up across China and more high-quality cooperation with all other countries within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

On this trip, the diplomatic envoys visited the Hongyan Revolution Memorial Museum, the Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery, and the Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park in Inland China. They paid an inspection visit by boat to the Chongqing section of the Yangtze River and Jialing River, and also visited Chongqing Haifu Medical Technology Co. Ltd., the smart factory of Seres in Liangjiang New Area, and Lijia Intelligent Park.
