On June 5, 2023, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with outgoing Malaysian Ambassador to China Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin.

Liu Jinsong spoke highly of the efforts made by Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin to promote the development of China-Malaysia relations over the past four years as Ambassador to China, noting that the joint announcement by President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim who visited China not long ago to jointly build a China-Malaysia community with a shared future has drawn up a blueprint for the future development of bilateral relations. He expressed the hope that Ambassador Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin will continue to care for and support the development of China-Malaysia relations and contribute to the building of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future after returning to Malaysia.

Ambassador Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin thanked the Chinese side for its support and assistance during his tenure in China, saying that Malaysia and China have close and friendly relations and he will continue to contribute to the development of Malaysia-China relations in his new post in the future.
